    powermatic 95

bought one of these last fall from a school auction for 60$(little gloat) and im getting around to setting it up, does anyone have experience with one of these? did a search at owwm and read the manual but wondering more about getting blades for this, according to the manual it is supposed to take 5" blades, this one came with a 6" that looked like it was fashioned out of a bandsaw blade, also is there a minimum size of blade this machine will take as in tighter turns. this whole scrollsaw thing is new to me but i am expanding my skills so now another machine to learn about, was trying to get this machine going since i am making some ogee bracket feet and the craftsman has a hard time on thicker stuff. also wondering if im wasting my time and should i just dump this and look for a newer(better) one. thanks in advance:)

The PM 95 is a nice little machine for the 24" size there are bigger machines out there , Oliver made a 36" sawbut Collady made the biggest (woodworking Scroll/coping saw)
here is a picture of a 26" Boice Ceane Scroll saw
and here is a picture of my 38" Colladay Scroll/coping saw

There's a steel rule die-maker near me that has a couple of jig saws with 52" throat. I don't know what make they are. He keeps them around for alterations (can't put a glued up CNC'd die back on the router ).

Those would likely be Richards Printing saws

          Dan.
I am not familiar with that saw but looking at a picture I think it will likely accept any of the 5" pin-less blades. You can get blades small enough to turn 180 degrees in less than a 1/16" if you want. They would not be good for thick stock however. I get my blades from http://www.mikesworkshop.com/blades.htm . His prices are good and delivery within 7 to 10 days in Canada. For more info on scroll sawing you might check out this forum http://www.scrollsawer.com/forum/. Mikesworkshop also lists the recommended blade depending on what you are cutting.

          Good luck
